Our StoryIt all started with a swipe on Hinge in March 2024—a classic Hinge success story we love telling! Andy and Maddie matched, and what could have been just another app conversation quickly turned into something special. After a few messages back and forth, they planned their first date on beautiful Balboa Island, a spot that felt like home from the very beginning.Both born and raised in Orange County—Andy in Corona del Mar and Maddie in Irvine—they discovered they had countless mutual friends but had somehow never crossed paths. Life had taken them on different adventures after high school: Andy headed to USC for college, then lived in LA and Newport before pursuing business school at Harvard. Maddie ventured across the country to the College of Charleston, then spent seven years building her career in Washington, DC, before moving back home in 2020. They had both waited patiently for a love that felt truly right—and when it arrived, it was worth every moment.Their first date was simple and perfect. They met for a relaxed walk around Balboa Island, soaking in the ocean breeze, the charming homes, and the easy conversation that flowed like they'd known each other forever. Andy had quietly booked a dinner reservation at The Royal Hen afterward—just in case the walk went well. (Spoiler alert: it went really well.) The cozy vibes of the restaurant, with its elevated comfort food and warm atmosphere, made the evening feel magical. By the end of the night, they both knew this was the start of something extraordinary.Since that first date, their love has only grown deeper. Maddie is the organized one—the planner, the Chief of Staff who literally keeps other people’s lives and businesses running smoothly. Andy? He’s the brilliant “absent-minded professor” type—one of the smartest people Maddie has ever met, but details aren’t always his strong suit. Together, they balance each other perfectly.In May 2025, they took the next big step and moved in together in the sweetest Corona del Mar neighborhood. They quickly fell into the happiest routines: morning coffee runs, Saturday farmers market strolls, and lazy weekends enjoying their new home and the community they both grew up loving.Andy knew Maddie was starting to feel ready for the next chapter when she began (not-so-subtly) taking him to jewelers to look at rings. After a low-key holiday season, he was determined to pull off the perfect surprise—one that wasn’t easy, since Maddie is always one step ahead of everything.Maddie had a hunch the proposal might happen one weekend in mid-January 2026. On Friday night, her former neighbors in Beacon Bay invited them over for drinks at their bayfront house, followed by dinner at the yacht club. Andy was working right up until they had to leave, which made Maddie think there was no way he’d propose that night... but there were a few little tells along the way.When they arrived, they enjoyed drinks with the neighbors, and then Andy got an “emergency work call.” (another spoiler: it wasn’t work at all.) He used the excuse to slip away and set the stage. He led Maddie out to the dock—the very spot where they’d first told each other “I love you.” As the sun set over the water, Andy got down on one knee. Maddie, of course, said yes through happy tears.The newly engaged couple headed straight to celebrate with their parents and Maddie’s grandmas for a joyful champagne toast, then slipped away for a quiet, romantic dinner at The Royal Hen—the same restaurant where their first date had sealed the deal. It felt like the perfect full-circle moment.What makes their relationship so special is how seamlessly it fits into the lives they’ve built—rooted in family, friends, and the Orange County community they both cherish. They’re incredibly close to their families, who all live nearby, and one of their greatest joys is the time they get to spend together with parents, siblings, and lifelong friends. They’ve been by each other’s sides through countless celebrations, cheering on friends at weddings over the years, and now they’re beyond thrilled to finally have everyone join them for their own.After all the waiting, the miles apart, the unexpected timing, and the beautiful surprises along the way, Andy and Maddie found exactly what they’d been hoping for: a partner who feels like home. And now, they’re ready to say “I do” surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

We grew up fifteen minutes apart, but it took us moving away — living in other parts of the country and the world — to realize we both wanted to make our lives here in Newport Beach. We had to wait a long time before our paths crossed, and we're so grateful we found one another. The best things do truly come to those who wait! That's part of why this weekend is so special to us, and why we chose to have our wedding at home. Newport is where we're from, and it's where we're going to build our lives together. We're so grateful to everyone traveling from near and far to be with us here. Here are a few of our favorite things to do if you have some extra time over the weekend. Balboa IslandWalk the island like we did on our first date, then wander the shops and boutiques and grab a Balboa Bar — one of our favorite little corners of Newport. Crystal CoveTake a walk along the bluffs and down to the beach, then grab brunch at the Beachcomber or lunch at Bear Flag — two of our go-to spots for a relaxed coastal morning. Duffy Boat CruiseRent a Duffy for an afternoon on the harbor — an easy, breezy way to see Newport from the water. Laguna BeachJust a short drive south, Laguna is well worth the trip for an afternoon of exploring — art galleries, coastal trails, and beautiful views around every corner. Paddleboarding or Kayaking the Back BayFor a quieter morning, the back bay is calm, scenic, and a lovely way to slow down. Newport Pier at SunriseAn early morning down at the pier is one of our favorite local traditions — watch the Dory Fleet fishermen bring in the day's catch right on the sand. A Few of Our Favorite Dinner SpotsYou really can't go wrong at any Hillstone restaurant — R&amp;D, Gulfstream, or Bandera — all favorites of ours and wonderful places for lunch or dinner.

May I bring a plus-one?We're so excited to celebrate with you! Due to venue capacity, we're only able to accommodate the guests named on your invitation. If you have a plus-one, they'll be listed by name on your envelope. What is black-tie optional?Think elegant and refined — for gentlemen, a dark suit or tuxedo, and for ladies, a floor-length gown or a formal cocktail dress. May I bring my children?We love your little ones, but consider this your night off! Our wedding will be a celebration for guests 16 and older, so please arrange for childcare and get ready to dance the night away, guilt free. Is there parking or valet?Yes — complimentary valet parking will be available at Big Canyon Country Club for the ceremony and reception. Where should I stay, and how do I get to the venue?We've reserved room blocks at the <a href="https://www.hyatt.com/events/en-US/group-booking/NEWPO/G-MADY" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Hyatt Regency Newport Beach</a> and the <a href="https://book.passkey.com/go/madeleineandandywedding" rel="noopener" target="_blank">VEA Newport Beach</a>, both just five minutes from Big Canyon Country Club. Ubers are quick and easy throughout Newport Beach, so getting to and from the venue will be a breeze. When should I RSVP by?Kindly reply by the first of September through our wedding website. What's the weather like in October?We are experiencing an unseasonably warm early fall in Southern California. Weather is expected to be in the low 80s. Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors on grass, with the reception moving indoors. Block heels for ladies is a wise choice! What time should I arrive?We recommend arriving at 3:45pm to find your seat and settle in.
